Royal Philips Electronics announced it will acquire US-based Emergin, Inc. This transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2007, at which time Emergin will become part of the Philips’ Healthcare sector.
Philips Electronics of the Netherlands is a leading manufacturer of portable defibrillators. One of their most popular products, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED Defibrillator, is the first AED defibrillator available to commercial users without a prescription.
Emergin is a privately-held software vendor based in Boca Raton, Florida. Following completion of the acquisition, Philips plans to expand Emergin’s activities beyond its North American base.
